It's been a while since we've checked in on Ken "Whit" Whitman's Wikipedia page and we got word that Kenny's been editing his page to (presumably) make himself look better.
Now we do have a wikipedia editor on staff, but we specifically asked that she doesn't update there and here because we consider that a conflict of interest. That being said, there's clearly a LOT missing from that page:
1: The sheer number of "companies" not listed. too many for this post, but we have been keeping track on our pseudonym page.
2. Ken Whitman Games is missing, with it's two Kickstarters, including the infamous Dice O'Matic. It is important to note that a LOT of people didn't get their product or all of their product (for those that were allegedly fulfilled).
Bonus Information:
Kenny logged into this account last week!
3. This entry is misleading: "Whitman later began doing business in late 2013 as D20 Entertainment on Kickstarter.[7] Whitman created and funded six projects on Kickstarter between December 8, 2013, and April 7, 2015, for three short movies and three gaming accessories.[citation needed]"
- While he was doing business as d20 Entertainment (not D20 Entertainment), he never incorporated the name and it is literally just a pseudonym. We documented, with links, here. The post, and links, are a secondary source, but there was a link to a primary source from the Tenlar's Tavern post.
- Whitman created at least seven projects (don't forget the Dice O'Matic!) and while we cannot prove it directly, the "creator" of the Cthulhu Dice Tower references d20 Entertainment and the reported resin problems are consistent with those reported for the disastrous Traveller minis, which we've reported on a few times in the past: "The Cthulhu Dice Tow Kickstarter is now over but you can find more information about it at http://fredfieldsart.com OR http://d20entertainment.com/cthulhu-dice-tower/" that makes our count at 8, that we know of!
- If we take the date back 5 months we can add Knight's Quest Family Card Game for a total of 9 Kickstarters!
- The entry itself is misleading as it appears there were 6 successful Kickstarter campaigns, when in reality Ken "Whit" Whitman is batting 0-9. No Kickstarter project was delivered as promised, or even close. The closest was KoDT: LAS having video produced by an unrelated 3rd party. That doesn't count.
- Btw...here is a primary source: "My name is Ken Whitman and I am a bad businessman when it comes to figuring out how much money I need to create a Kickstarter. I started 6 Kickstarter, and have only managed to officially finish one to date. I am still working to finish them. Thank you for your patience." It's a lie (since he didn't actually fulfill one, unless you count the not-as-ordered Castles & Crusades Video)
