During the wonderful early/late AM exchanges between Ken "Whit" Whitman and Jolly Blackburn we thought we read that Kenny was going to provide an update to all of his Kickstarter Backers.
We can admit when we are wrong because in re-reading this wonderful exchange, we did like Ken "Whit" Whitman did himself and only focused on part of a statement and assumed that the reply applied to what we were focused on and not the other part of the statement.
Jolly Blackburn: "oh??? so you are still working on our kickstarters? How about an update on your KS pages to let folks now. I has been 15 months since you've so much as dropped a note there."
Ken "Whit" Whitman: "@ Jolly... Yes"
We thought Kenny was replying that he would post an update on the Kickstarter page(s) informing his backers that he is allegedly still working on their projects....that he took money for.....and didn't produce what was promised.
Now we could have easily just skipped by this because there was no record of our assumptions regarding this post and nobody would have been the wiser....BUT we wanted to look at when was Ken "Whit" Whitman's last Kickstarter updates.
In no particular order:
1) Deck Dice was last updated on July 17, 2016. This means it has been 464 days since the backers for this Kickstarter have been updated.
2) Castles & Crusades: Beyond the River was last updated on July 17, 2016. This means it has been 464 days since the backers for this Kickstarter have been updated.
3) Knights of the Dinner Table: Live Action Series was last updated on August 31, 2016. We don't even think that was a real update since the bloopers were not actually from Ken "Whit" Whitman, which would make the July 25th, 2016 "The Harassment Continues" as the last real update? No, we'd count the last real update as July 16, 2016. Doesn't matter because for the sake of this exercise we are going to count the last update as August 31, 2016. This means it has been 418 days since the backers of this Kickstarter have been updated.
4) Pencil Dice was last updated July 17, 2016. So now it looks like there is a pattern of Ken "Whit" Whitman shotgunning Kickstarter updates, which...without actually reading the content of the updates makes us think they are just simple "I'm allegedly still working on the projects you paid me for". The fact that three of the four so far have been nothing but "new release dates" we think adds credence to our theory.
Nevertheless, it has been 464 days since the backers for this Kickstarter have been updated.
5) Just more of the same here.....nothing new.
6) Thank goodness, some variation here. Spinward Traveller was last updated on September 11, 2016. This means that it has been 407 days since the backers for this Kickstarter have been updated.
What does all this mean? Well, for one it means that Kickstarter backers for Ken "Whit" Whitman have not been updated on ANY progress for well over a year. Regardless of what Ken "Whit" Whitman says elsewhere on the internet, here....were it counts...he has been doing nothing. Zero documentation in over a year combined with zero results in over a year equals zero work having been done on these projects.
Let us not forget how many times Ken "Whit" Whitman has stated that KoDT:LAS has been "90% done" and/or "two weeks away" from completion. According to our quick math Ken "Whit" Whitman should have been able to complete KoDT:LAS 32 times over by now.
Looking at these numbers a different way, Ken "Whit" Whitman is 2,681 days late just updating his backers. That's over 7 years late (combined)! This is just on updates!
Ken "Whit" Whitman has had backers money for a combined 6,494 days (or 17 years, 9 months!):
- 1356 days for KoDT:LAS
- 1196 days for Spinward Traveller
- 1086 days for Castles & Crusades
- 968 days for Pencil Dice
- 958 days for RPG Pencil Dice
- 930 days for Deck Dice
When looking at these figures and dates it is pretty messed up to see that Ken "Whit" Whitman was allowed, by Kikcstarter, to have six (6!) Kickstarters "active" before fulfilling even one. Heck, his last two even overlapped funding periods!
These numbers just boggle the mind.....
