A Brief Introduction to this Page's Purpose

Not Another Dime! is dedicated to documenting the assorted, and sometimes wild, details of Mr. Ken Whitman's business dealings within the Role Playing Game (RPG) industry. This place is NOT intended to be a medium of discussion about Mr. Whitman, pro or con, but instead be a "jumping off" point to enable the reader to make their own informed decision about Mr. Whitman's history and business character. (Editor's Note: After years of this documentation, we simply cannot be anything BUT "con" when it comes to Mr. Whitman)

Whenever possible, links to the original source material will be provided, but in many cases that information may have been deleted or secured behind restricted-access (like a private Facebook page) accounts.

Anything posted here is the opinion of the retrospective author and any content shown is to be considered "fair use" and posted for educational purposes only.

Note to authors: Please begin each post with the original date of the event being documented in the format of YYYY.MM.DD (i.e. If the event being recorded happened on March 15th, 2015 and today's date was August 8th, 2018 the beginning of the post's title would be 2015.03.15 and not 2018.08.08) so readers can use the Chronology page to find specific information. Please use appropriate tags when possible for the same reason.

Note to contributors: If you have some valid data to send, screenshots, links to other Ken Whitman stories, etc., please feel free to send a gmail to notanotherdimeblog. We'll look into it and post if appropriate.

2015.11.29 What the F.....

2015.11.29 What the F.....
I couldn't make this up if I tried.....

Ken Whitman has brought back the d20Entertainment website just so he could shill for more money. At least he is being honest for once that if you give him money this time you'll get "nothing"......

.....and I love the misinformation that "most proceeds" will go towards, well anything. I'm sorry, but if the man can't provide backers with a $16.92 book they paid $100 for, how is giving him $5, $10, $50, or even $100 more going to make it happen?

If you have to actually think about that question, the answer is "it won't".

Ken Whitman Promises to Screw You if he gets Your Money....

2015.11.30 Edit
If this wasn't bad enough on its own.......if you actually did want to give Ken Whitman more money for "nothing"......there is a $4.93 shipping and handling fee for Ken Whitman to send you nothing.....

  1. I propose that we call any scheme where a customer pays money and receives nothing a 'Whitman'.

Example: "Yeah, that Kickstarter turned out to be a Whitman - it only produced empty promises and screwed backers."

  2. I had a good laugh when I saw this desperate delusional attempt by shitwhit. It's the equivalent of begging on the street for more change, only through the internet. Personally I'd rather wait until hes actually on the street to flick a dirty penny at him.

  3. At first, I thought this was a hack of Mr. W's website, but there really is a donation link there and it does ask you to select up to $100 to be deducted out of your amazon account.

  4. Kevin, just so all the complaints start piling up in the same place, what category and subcategory did you use?

  5. For all kickstarter complaints, it seems most logical to go to:

    https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/Information#crnt

    Then "Scams and Rip-offs"
Then choose the "no match found" option since there isnt a crowdfunding option yet. Follow the instructions in the dropdown menus until you get to the section where you can type your complaint, giving the amount you backed the project, what was promised, any kickstarter rules that he has clearly violated and any other info that you think might help.

Most importantly...share this info to all who have been ripped off so they can do the same.

  6. Ken's never been shy about coming around to dip in the same well again. Remember his Spam Tsunami? hundreds of spam emails through mailing lists he made from his kickstarters (and Elmore's apparently). All of them claimed that "all proceeds" would directly toward the kickstarter projects.

The other day he asked for $250 from me for a hard drive to put the KODTLAS footage on. I dunno. Just smacked of being a ransom demand.

    No. Never again.

    1. $250? You can get a 3 TB drive for around $100 now.

    2. Jason: I dont think you have done the math right. $50 so he can fill up his Car/Cars/Batmobile. 100 for a meal at some fancy place (and tippers gotta tip) and then 100 for the Hard drive.. which will fail because the film just isnt there.

  7. For those who aren't aware, this is inspired by the goofy half serious protest/half goofy joke Black Friday offerings from Cards Against Humanity. Last year they sold BS... as in a box of actual dried cow feces that was promptly shipped to you. This year they sold nothing -- and donated most of it to charity after the fact, without saying so in the Black Friday "deal" so the gag was a fairly pure parody of Black Friday rampant consumerism and advertising.

This totally misses both the humor and the consumerism mocking. It's like he just took it at face value: "Oh, people on the internet will give you money for nothing. I'll do that."

Their Christmas and Hanukkah deals are similarly silly: $12 for microgames and gag gifts mailed to you over 12 days, etc.

    1. Yeah, well, it's Cards Against Humanity. Apparently, all you have to do is put out a hard-R-rated version of Apples to Apples and people think you're an amazing innovator.

    2. I have to admit, that if this is a joke, I just don't get it. Amazon has that "one-click payment" thing and, if you were not careful, you could be sending him $100 with an accidental mouse click. Kind of scared me a bit.

    3. It's a joke in the context of the CAH annual parody product for Black Friday. Once a year they stop selling their actual products and only sell something like a box of poo (literally!). It's a protest/parody/gag related to Black Friday. You *do* pay the money, and you *do* get what they are selling (usually under $10, and a gag). This year they did "$5 for Nothing," shutting down all their normal store, and basically giving people receipts for nothing.

As I note, they did donate most of it to charity, but the actual point was to mock Black Friday consumerism.

Ken totally missed the point and for him it's not related to Black Friday at all.

  8. I lodged a complaint with the FTC a while ago and because I'm not in the USA they just gave me advice on how to avoid scams....

  9. They wont ignore a multitude of complaints regarding the same scam - when a high volume of complaints come in about a person/business/kickstarter, they look into it. All you backers have the collective power to do this. Use these blogs and share the links.

Here is an example of the FTC cracking down on kickstarter scumbags:

  10. Evan Edwards ... with CAH ... its a joke and the money they raise will likely go to charity and people get that. Other times a year when they order card decks they'll get them. With Ken ... this was just a way of trying to grab cash ... not make a joke. IF it was just a joke then it would NOT still be there today WEDNESDAY hoping someone would click on it.

    1. Oh, I know. I am just giving the context for those who might not know about CAH's annual Black Friday prank/joke/gag. More to the point, exactly how much Ken missed the point. See my reply above. We're on the same frequency here.

  11. There is a very interesting thread over on the ENWorld forums that features a discussion of both the Las Vegas move and the "cash for nothing" offer. Some of the comments are quite interesting and provide an interesting perspective on this situation:
