A Brief Introduction to this Page's Purpose

Not Another Dime! is dedicated to documenting the assorted, and sometimes wild, details of Mr. Ken Whitman's business dealings within the Role Playing Game (RPG) industry. This place is NOT intended to be a medium of discussion about Mr. Whitman, pro or con, but instead be a "jumping off" point to enable the reader to make their own informed decision about Mr. Whitman's history and business character. (Editor's Note: After years of this documentation, we simply cannot be anything BUT "con" when it comes to Mr. Whitman)

Whenever possible, links to the original source material will be provided, but in many cases that information may have been deleted or secured behind restricted-access (like a private Facebook page) accounts.

Anything posted here is the opinion of the retrospective author and any content shown is to be considered "fair use" and posted for educational purposes only.

Note to authors: Please begin each post with the original date of the event being documented in the format of YYYY.MM.DD (i.e. If the event being recorded happened on March 15th, 2015 and today's date was August 8th, 2018 the beginning of the post's title would be 2015.03.15 and not 2018.08.08) so readers can use the Chronology page to find specific information. Please use appropriate tags when possible for the same reason.

Note to contributors: If you have some valid data to send, screenshots, links to other Ken Whitman stories, etc., please feel free to send a gmail to notanotherdimeblog. We'll look into it and post if appropriate.

2018.03.30 Ken "Whit" Whitman Served With Civil Suit

2018.03.30 Ken "Whit" Whitman Served With Civil Suit
Editorial Note: The lead-in graphic for this point is just some wishful thinking.....actually the picture is named "Wishful Thinking".

We kind of knew something was going down, but didn't have enough to post, not that we would because we wouldn't want Ken "Whit" Whitman getting a head's up on "his" website. Earlier this week Ken "Whit" Whitman was served a summons from one of his "scammed" Kickstarter backers, and Not Another Dime (for Ken Whitman) got a bit of a shout-out in the paperwork.

The news on this event was released to the world over at Tenkar's Tavern. Of course we're a bit jealous, but to be fair, Tenkar's Tavern has a much bigger audience that we do since we've got such a singular focus. As per our usual, we're posting everything we can here for simple documentation, but you should browse the news over there as well.

Before we start showing the details we want to highlight one particular quote from our main man that really applies, something that Ken "Whit" Whitman once posted over at Tenkar's Tavern: "I am not running from the LAW, The LAW can find me anytime. The reason I was not served, is I have done nothing illegal. Can people serve me for small claims and civil, sure they can. Just like I could sue you Erik, but like me, you don't own shit, so it would be am empiric victory.

So enjoy waiting more time haters & Happy holidays."

We aren't going to post the entirety of the summons, in text at least, but there is a PDF copy available from Tenkar's Tavern Discord Server, located here. As that server gets used more & more the file will be harder to find. While it seems obvious that the Plaintiff, one Louis Desy, Jr., must be ok with having his personal information "out there" by giving Tenkar's Tavern the PDF, in the pictures below we have redacted said personal info.

Now if you want to follow along, like we do, you can follow the case at this website: https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/CaseSearch and use this case number: 651541/2018. Now Obviously we'll be following along and posting when we feel it is appropriate. As the time of this post the only thing relevant is the copy of the Affidavit of Service.

  1. I actually thought that this site had more traffic, but upon reflection realize that the Tavern would probably have more traffic since it covers a wider range of topics.

But having said that, this site does provide a very good service of keeping track of all of the things that Whitman has done on this project and others, and has been an invaluable resource for researching the whole problem, and for that I am grateful for all of the work and research you have done here. If I had to start from scratch it would have taken me days to assemble the same information in such an organized format and I even cite to this site in my complaint.

One thing that I do find fascinating with Whitman, is that it seems like no matter how much you look at facts or research what Whitman has done, there just seems to be no end to the scams and cons, going back at least to the mid 1990s. I suspect his cons and scams go back further than that, but since the internet only really started to get going in the mid 1990s, there is not much online about anything that Whitman would have been doing earlier than that and would take some effort to research.

With most grifters or con artists, they usually have one narrow area of operation or specialty, and once you start looking into them you can usually within a few days sort of get the idea what the upper limit is on the amount of money and number of marks who have, were or are being conned. With Whitman, it is like it never ends. Just when you think that maybe you have gotten to the end of all of the scams and cons Whitman has run, you come across another thread that leads to another group of victims or Whitman disappears to another state and starts up again; like when he fled Kentucky for Atlanta and then moved back to Kentucky after he conned an actors group out of all kinds of money there.

At this point the next step is to wait for Whitman to file an answer to the complaint. It will be interesting to see what that filing is or will Whitman just spend his days running things from his standard playbook to try to avoid a default judgment and/or any discovery on the case?

I expect we can all look forward to several Whitman rants or even episodes of hysteria as the deadline approaches, but, THAT'S MY KENNY!!!

    GO KEN!!!!
