A Brief Introduction to this Page's Purpose

Not Another Dime! is dedicated to documenting the assorted, and sometimes wild, details of Mr. Ken Whitman's business dealings within the Role Playing Game (RPG) industry. This place is NOT intended to be a medium of discussion about Mr. Whitman, pro or con, but instead be a "jumping off" point to enable the reader to make their own informed decision about Mr. Whitman's history and business character. (Editor's Note: After years of this documentation, we simply cannot be anything BUT "con" when it comes to Mr. Whitman)

Whenever possible, links to the original source material will be provided, but in many cases that information may have been deleted or secured behind restricted-access (like a private Facebook page) accounts.

Anything posted here is the opinion of the retrospective author and any content shown is to be considered "fair use" and posted for educational purposes only.

Note to authors: Please begin each post with the original date of the event being documented in the format of YYYY.MM.DD (i.e. If the event being recorded happened on March 15th, 2015 and today's date was August 8th, 2018 the beginning of the post's title would be 2015.03.15 and not 2018.08.08) so readers can use the Chronology page to find specific information. Please use appropriate tags when possible for the same reason.

Note to contributors: If you have some valid data to send, screenshots, links to other Ken Whitman stories, etc., please feel free to send a gmail to notanotherdimeblog. We'll look into it and post if appropriate.

2016.04.22 Ken "Whit" Whitman Spending Resources on Something Other Than Kickstarter Fulfillment

2016.04.22 Ken "Whit" Whitman Spending Resources on Something Other Than Kickstarter Fulfillment
If you've been reading posts here at Not Another Dime (For Ken Whitman) you'd know that Ken "Whit" Whitman has raked in a lot of money from Kickstarter, and probably (there is no accounting here) just as much from off-books sales of resin and IP/products that aren't his. In several cases these products were double-sold or never even existed to begin with.

This means a lot of people have been left high & dry by Ken "Whit" Whitman, who has attempted, and failed, to run his scams (highly biased, but what would you call all of these fraudulent activities?) under the "protection" of a company, in this case d20 Entertainment, that doesn't exist.

Basically Ken "Whit" Whitman is on the hook for the plethora of small and large cons and instead of making his victims "whole" he invests in a con? No, not the type of "con" you'd normally associate with Ken "Whit" Whitman, but the type normally associated with those he normally fleeces: a gaming convention.

We hadn't heard of BobCon before, mostly because all of us live outside of the area. Luckily our readers do not and "Chuck M" gave us a head's up.

BobCon Sponsor d20 Entertainment

"Special thanks to our friends and Patron-level sponsors d20 Entertainment. You may know them as the creators of the Brothers Barbarian web series, the Knights of the Dinner Table live action series, based on Jolly Blackburn's timeless gamer comic series, or the recently funded Spinward Traveller, based on Mark Miller's classic space role-playing game Traveller. d20 Entertainment is gamer culture, for gamers, by gamers."

Of course you usually want to keep connected to your money source in some fashion. Hard to come around for another scam if you don't have an audience to take from....

  1. How can Kenny afford to do this when he cant even afford to refund me for the crappy Traveller resin ships he (eventually, after several emails through many cahnnels) sent me?

He promised he'd refund me if I could wait six months. That's up on the 19th of May.

I'll email him on that day and see what happens. I'll probably get the standard Ken Whitman(tm) treatment.

  2. I wonder how much it costs to be a supporter of BobCon.

  3. A lot of time with small cons ... you can get this level of recognition by donating product for prizes. Could very well be that he had left overs from the KS projects that he just sent them. Would be very interesting if someone from BOBcon would be willing to tell us what D20 paid to get that recognition level.

  4. If I were Ken, I would take a break from spending kickstarter money to promote myself and buy myself fancy new things and take a little time to prepare myself for days in court (collecting and organizing paperwork, correspondence and so forth...).

  5. A hundred bucks for a weekend pass and an ad in their regional convention...

  7. I live in KC and didn't know about this. No fliers at stores for advertising either
